Maharashtra Government Boosts Construction with New Artificial Sand Policy
The Maharashtra government has introduced a policy to encourage the use of artificial sand, or M-Sand, for construction, enhancing sustainable development while curbing illegal sand mining. Responsibilities, including sanctioning and licensing, have been shifted to district collectors to facilitate faster implementation.

The Maharashtra government has unveiled a policy to promote artificial sand in construction, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule announced.
Under this new policy, district collectors can approve up to 100 M-Sand units, doubling the previous limit. The move aims to expedite the availability of alternative sand sources.
The initiative intends to curb river sand mining while ensuring construction sand availability, thereby supporting environmental protection efforts.
