Union Home Minister Amit Shah has sanctioned the prompt release of Rs 20 crore to Nagaland, marking the second instalment of the central share from the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF). This critical funding seeks to provide immediate relief to those impacted by the extreme weather conditions that have plagued the region during this year's monsoon.
The swift action underscores the central government's commitment to standing alongside the northeastern state in its efforts to manage the challenges posed by natural disasters. For the fiscal year 2025-26, a total of Rs 15,554 crore has been allocated to 27 states under SDRF and an additional Rs 2,267.44 crore to 15 states under NDRF, highlighting the government's broad support in disaster mitigation.
Alongside financial assistance, the Centre has deployed National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Army, and Air Force teams to ensure thorough logistical support to states hit by floods, landslides, and cloudbursts. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and Amit Shah's guidance, the government continues to collaborate closely with state administrations during such emergencies.
