In a strategic move to boost global engagement, the Maharashtra Cabinet approved the expansion of its protocol department on Tuesday, adding new desks dedicated to Foreign Direct Investment, diaspora affairs, and international outreach.
Chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the meeting sanctioned 23 new positions, increasing the total staff to 62 and revising the roles to encompass a broader range of responsibilities.
The expanded department is tasked with managing international relations, enhancing trade and finance, coordinating with high commissions, and fostering overseas cultural and academic exchanges, among other international activities.
