A stone-throwing incident involving a farmer occurred in Parbhani, Maharashtra, as frustrations over unpaid compensation boiled over. The farmer, identified as Santosh Paike, attacked the car of the district Collector, demanding the waiver of loans for farmers affected by excess rainfall.
Paike, from Chatori village, was reportedly under the influence of alcohol and was promptly detained by authorities. This act reflects growing discontent among farmers, who claim discrepancies between promised government aid and actual disbursement.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has expressed dissatisfaction over delays in financial aid distribution, urging swift corrective measures. This comes after Maharashtra's government declared a substantial relief package for impacted farmers.
