The Maharashtra government has requested an account of fund utilization by the Vasantdada Sugar Institute (VSI), a move that has led to backlash from the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar camp). Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis clarified that this was a routine financial inspection.
However, NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar criticized the decision, arguing that the order to inspect VSI was politically motivated. He implied that the BJP is now focusing on Baramati, following previous activities in Thane. Sharad Pawar, heading VSI, finds the inquiry unnecessary.
Sugar Commissioner Sanjay Kolte confirmed the routine nature of the process, explaining that funds collected from sugar mills are meant for research, and the committee being formed will ensure their appropriate utilization. Despite government assurances, speculation about the inquiry's intentions persists.
