The Maharashtra cabinet gave the green light to the 'Viksit Maharashtra-2047' vision document on Tuesday, signaling a landmark initiative aimed at transforming the state into a $5 trillion economy by 2047. Under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, a management unit will oversee its implementation.

The government conducted a comprehensive statewide survey to gather citizens' perceptions, which helped shape the vision's roadmap. The document features timelines running up to 2029, 2035, and 2047 to structure its implementation milestones.

Sixteen sectoral groups have forged plans across agriculture, industry, and urban development sectors, supported by good governance principles. The plan includes an ambitious 100 initiatives aimed at bolstering income, slum conversion projects, and global talent hubs. A vision management unit will monitor progress and align strategies.
