The Gujarat Titans have filled a crucial gap in their squad by enlisting South African newcomer Connor Esterhuizen as a replacement for Tom Banton, who was sidelined due to a finger injury. Esterhuizen, a promising wicketkeeper-batsman, has recently drawn international attention with his standout performances against New Zealand.
The 24-year-old Esterhuizen made a remarkable international debut, achieving two Player of the Match accolades, and was named Player of the Series in a five-match T20I series. He now steps into the IPL arena for the first time, set to join GT at a base price of Rs 75 Lakh.
Meanwhile, Banton, who contributed significantly to England's performance in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, finds himself benched without playing a match for GT this season. As the tournament heats up, Shubman Gill's Titans aim to solidify their position on the points table with an upcoming match against winless KKR at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.
