Lin Yu-ting, Taiwan's first Olympic boxing champion, has advanced in the Asian boxing championships by winning her quarterfinal bout. This marks her first event since passing a genetic test required by World Boxing to confirm her gender.
On Friday, Lin defeated Ayaka Taguchi of Japan with a perfect 5-0, maintaining an impeccable record, just days after beating Thananya Somnuek of Thailand in the lightweight division.
Lin's return to the ring comes amid evolving eligibility standards stirred by her and fellow champion Imane Khelif's performances, raising discussions on gender identity in sports, particularly in light of new IOC rules on transgender athletes.
