Easter Travel Plans Hit Roadblock Amid Fuel Crisis
Australians are canceling their Easter travel plans due to soaring fuel costs caused by the Middle East conflict. Many are choosing to stay home rather than incur high travel expenses. As fuel shortages persist, the impact of the crisis is felt across the nation, altering traditional holiday routines.
Every Easter, millions of Australians, including Sydney retiree Elsa Ulcak, traditionally embark on long weekends filled with road trips.
This year, however, Ulcak canceled her travel plans due to the steep rise in fuel costs, influenced by the Iran war and the blockage of the Strait of Hormuz, which has strained global energy supplies.
With prices surging over A$2.50 per litre for petrol, many like Rachel Abbott and Stav Zotalis are reconsidering travel, opting instead to stay home during Easter, a period typically bustling with travel activity.
