In a recent press conference, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu affirmed the nation's support for designating Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh, despite conspiracies from the opposition YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). He emphasized that the capital's status, now reinforced by the central government, is unalterable.
Naidu pointed out that the Amaravati Bill received overwhelming support, not only from Andhra Pradesh's representatives, but also from 50 political parties in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. This collective backing, despite ideological differences, underscores the importance of national interest in safeguarding the capital's status.
The passage of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026, devotedly supported by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, symbolizes the culmination of efforts to protect the interests of five crore people associated with Amaravati's status as the capital.
