Khelo India Tribal Games: A New Dawn for Chhattisgarh

Over 2,500 athletes participated, showcasing the central government's effort to empower tribal youth. The event notably promotes women's participation through the successful Asmita League.

The inaugural Khelo India Tribal Games have acted as a transformative force for Chhattisgarh, previously plagued by Naxalism. On Wednesday, Minister of State for Sports Raksha Khadse highlighted the event's success during her visit to Raipur. With participation from over 2,500 athletes across the nation, the Games symbolize the government's strategy to redefine the future of tribal youth.
"Chhattisgarh is now opening up to new opportunities thanks to this sporting initiative," Khadse stated. The minister also emphasized the event's role in helping to eradicate Naxalism and promote potential sporting stars. Home Minister Amit Shah declared that naxalism is completely eradicated across the nation.
Khadse praised the Asmita League for its significant role in empowering women in sports, mentioning that approximately 60 to 70 percent of the girls participating in hockey and football are Asmita League alumni. Notably, all gold medals in swimming events were claimed by these athletes, further proving their competence and the transformational impact of the league.
