Hamam Hussain, a wrestler from Jammu and Kashmir, has achieved a remarkable milestone by winning his first national-level gold at the Khelo India Tribal Games.
He spent over a decade training on mud akhadas, balancing his sports ambitions with selling milk to support his family after his father's passing. Despite limited facilities and financial constraints, Hussain managed to uphold his passion for wrestling with the support of his elder brother.
Originally from Jorawar village in Jammu, Hussain clinched the men's 79kg freestyle gold medal, defeating Mohit Kumar of Himachal Pradesh.
