Amaravati: Andhra's Capital Reaffirmed

Union Minister Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani hailed the passage of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026, in Lok Sabha as a transformative step for the state of Andhra Pradesh. The bill settles the prolonged ambiguity surrounding Amaravati's status as the sole capital, thereby encouraging investment and growth.

The move is viewed as a tribute to the significant sacrifices made by over 29,000 farmers and numerous community members. They contributed land and voiced their support for Amaravati, enduring over 1,600 days of disciplined protest in pursuit of a unified future for the state.

Minister Pemmasani emphasized the bill's forward-looking framework and stated that Amaravati's recognition as the capital is anticipated to drive major infrastructure projects, create jobs, and boost the state's economy. This effort represents a model of inclusive development and participatory governance.
