The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, lauds the passage of the Amaravati Bill in the Lok Sabha, considering it a pivotal moment for the people of the state. Passed by the Centre, the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026, grants statutory recognition to Amaravati as the capital, a move celebrated by Naidu as a testament to the sacrifices of farmers and the aspirations of the people.
Naidu emphasized the symbolic significance of Amaravati for the self-respect of Andhra Pradesh's people, stating that the legal status granted through Parliament reflects the aspirations of crores. He critiqued the previous YSRCP regime, marking the development as a transition towards a 'Swarna (golden) Andhra' with new-found confidence. Naidu envisions Amaravati's evolution into a world-class city, highlighting the planned growth to secure a prominent global position.
The Chief Minister expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for their sustained support. Andhra Pradesh IT Minister, Nara Lokesh, echoed similar sentiments, declaring the moment historic for its people. Lokesh stressed that the decision embodies the aspirations of millions, further solidifying Amaravati's cultural and historical importance, boosting governance clarity, investor confidence, and economic prospects while ensuring regional development through decentralised administration.
