The Delhi court has taken a significant step in the criminal defamation case involving BJP MLA Karnail Singh. A 'notice of accusation' was issued against him following a complaint by AAP leader Satyendar Jain. The case centers on allegedly defamatory remarks made by Singh in a television interview.
Presiding over the hearing, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Paras Dalal noted that there was no evidence to suggest the accusations were baseless. The court highlighted Jain's complaint and witness testimonies, which were deemed adequate to move forward with the trial.
The case underscores the special court's role in expediting trials involving current and former MPs and MLAs. Singh is accused of falsely claiming that gold and land worth a significant amount were linked to Jain, allegations that Jain firmly denies.
