Arunachal Pradesh Governor K T Parnaik has called for a renewed focus on strengthening talent identification and scientific training for athletes in the northeastern state. During a meeting with Sports Minister Kento Jini, Parnaik stressed the immense potential in Arunachal Pradesh for producing athletes who can excel on both national and international stages, including prestigious platforms such as the Commonwealth and Olympic Games.
Highlighting the importance of nurturing young talent, the governor underscored the need for structured training programs complimented by modern sports science techniques. He also advocated for the promotion of adventure sports, including activities like mountaineering, canoeing, whitewater rafting, and mountain biking.
Governor Parnaik called for greater recognition of the state's sports achievers, whose successes embody courage and perseverance. He also proposed interactive school and college sessions to inspire future athletes, thereby strengthening the athletic spirit within the region.
