On Friday night, Delhi was overwhelmed by an unexpected downpour, accompanied by thunder and lightning. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) highlighted the severity of the situation by issuing an orange alert, urging residents to stay indoors.
The intense weather system, featuring gusty winds of 40-60 kmph along with moderate rainfall, moved eastward across the capital. This unusual storm activity not only brought showers but also caused a significant temperature drop, with the mercury falling by 7-10 degrees Celsius between 4 pm and 6 pm.
Meanwhile, the IMD warned that similar weather conditions could extend to parts of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, advising the public to exercise caution. As the storm passed through Delhi, the city was enveloped in clouds, providing a dramatic backdrop for the evening's rain-soaked scene.
