The Delhi government plans to launch an annual survey of the manufacturing industry this month, as announced on Friday. This initiative aims to assess the current status and future projections of the sector in the national capital.
The survey will gather data from industrial units governed by multiple acts, including the Factories Act 1948, Companies Act 2013, and others, between April and September this year according to a recent gazette notification. The findings will be crucial for policymakers, providing insights into capital formation, employment trends, and economic activities.
Field visits by statistics officials are anticipated to validate the data collected, ensuring accuracy and comprehension of records. A significant decline in the number of operational factories was noted in the latest annual survey, showcasing a 12 per cent drop from 2020-21 to 2021-22.
