Delhi marked International Bat Appreciation Day with the launch of 'Bats of Delhi NCR', a field guide published by WWF-India and partners, to spotlight urban biodiversity and the ecological significance of bats in the capital.
Documenting 12 of the 15 bat species found in Delhi, this first-of-its-kind publication offers insights into species identification, habitats, and behavior, along with known city locations of sightings.
The event, including a guided 'Bat Walk' led by Rohit Chakravarty, saw participation from researchers and enthusiasts, with bat detectors used to witness bat activities in real-time, while addressing negative perceptions surrounding these vital creatures for ecological balance.
