Vibrant Village Programme-II: Bridging the Gap in Assam's Barak Valley

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the Centre and state government are rolling out several initiatives to bolster development in Barak Valley. The launch of the Vibrant Village Programme-II from Cachar accentuates the strategic importance of this region on the national stage.

Termed once as a 'neglected' area, Barak Valley now plays a significant role in Assam's and India's broader development vision, according to Sarma's statement on platform X. The initiative reflects the 'Act East' policy of focusing on the region for national growth.

Among the projects, reducing travel time from Guwahati to Silchar to five hours via a new Expressway figures prominently. The commitment is to ensure both Barak and Brahmaputra valleys receive equitable development under the 'Double Engine' government.
