Guwahati Airport's New Terminal: A Gateway to a Connected Assam

The much-anticipated new terminal at Guwahati's Lokpriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport is scheduled to open on February 22, according to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. This Rs 4,000-crore facility promises to boost the state's connectivity and serves as a symbol of its aspirations on the global stage.

Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 20, the new terminal is poised to handle both domestic and international flights by March. Set to accommodate 13.1 million passengers annually, its design is inspired by Assam's rich biodiversity and cultural heritage, offering both function and aesthetic appeal.

The old terminal will be converted into a cargo hub, further enhancing the airport's utility. The airport, named after Assam's first chief minister, also houses a newly unveiled 80-foot statue in his honor. These developments reflect a strategic vision to make Assam a more connected and globally engaged state.
