Anil Goyal, a BJP MLA from Krishna Nagar, has been named the best legislator of the Delhi Assembly, an honor restored after an 18-year hiatus. Goyal will be awarded the 'Annual Award for Best Legislator' of the Eighth Legislative Assembly, the Delhi Assembly secretariat announced.
His selection was confirmed by a high-powered committee led by Speaker Vijender Gupta, signifying a reinstatement of a parliamentary tradition to promote governance excellence. Goyal will be officially honored, receiving a citation, a memento, and a cash prize of Rs 51,000 during an impending felicitation ceremony, the statement revealed.
Evaluation for the 'Best MLA Award' was comprehensive, with a scoring system totaling 100 points. This included 65 points derived from official records and 35 from a qualitative assessment by the selection committee, focusing heavily on contributions to enriching House debates, which accounted for 50 points of the overall score.
