Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has set a deadline for the completion of utility duct tarring in key areas of Shimla. In a recent Public Works Department meeting, he emphasized the need to finish the work by May 10 up to Shimla Club and by June 15 up to Lift.

The project, with a budget of Rs 145 crore, involves constructing utility ducts spanning 7 km from Chhota Shimla to Willy's Park. This initiative aims to declutter Shimla’s skyline by accommodating electric and water lines underground, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal for both residents and tourists.

Highlighting Shimla's significance as both a state capital and a major tourist hub, Sukhu underlined the necessity for a neat infrastructure to boost tourist inflow. The removal of overhead cables is expected to offer a better experience for visitors, aligning with Shimla's reputation as the queen of hills.
