AIADMK MP Raises Alarm Over CCTV Reduction at Tamil Nadu Polls

AIADMK MP I S Inbadurai has filed an urgent petition with the Election Commission of India and the chief electoral officer for immediate intervention to ensure sufficient CCTV coverage at polling booths for the April 23 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

The MP emphasized that the installation of CCTV cameras is mandated by the Supreme Court to maintain transparency during the voting process. However, reports indicate a concerning reduction in the number of cameras in certain districts.

Inbadurai expressed his apprehension about potential electoral malpractices, such as booth capturing and bogus voting, if the planned number of cameras is reduced. He urged the EC to take swift action, as no official order for this reduction has been made public.
