During a recent public rally, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, renewed his allegations that US President Donald Trump exerts control over Prime Minister Narendra Modi, likening Trump's influence to holding Modi's future 'in his hands.' Gandhi emphasized that Modi, in turn, wields similar control over Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, due to alleged knowledge of Sarma's corruption and crimes.
Gandhi further accused the Assam Chief Minister of spreading hatred and instilling fear among the populace ahead of the crucial assembly elections. He lamented that these actions run counter to Assam's cultural heritage that champions unity and respect, referencing the ethos valued by luminaries like Shankar Dev and Bhupen Hazarika.
The political landscape in Assam heats up as voters gear up for the assembly polls on April 9, with results to be declared on May 4. The election marks a significant contest between the BJP-led NDA government and Congress for control of the 126-seat assembly.
