NPP president and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma emphasized the need for unity and youth empowerment during his campaign for party candidate I. Abenjang ahead of the Koridang bypoll in Nagaland. Addressing leaders and organizations, Sangma highlighted the Northeast's potential due to its youthful demographic.
Reaffirming the National People's Party's commitment to its independent identity, Sangma stated that the party aims not just for political gains, but for building a positive foundation for the region and its communities. He expressed confidence in Abenjang's dedication to public service if elected.
In a historic visit to Longkhum village, Sangma opposed the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) and advocated for its repeal, citing alternative security measures. His visit, marked by respect for Naga history, included interactions with village elders and a public address.
