Acclaimed actor Brian Cox is making headlines with his upcoming role in the second season of 'Dexter: Resurrection', as reported by Variety. Cox will portray Dom Framt, also known as The New York Ripper, a character which made its initial narrative appearance in the first season without ever appearing on screen. The character is described as a notorious serial killer who once terrorized New York City, now prolonging his infamy by haunting the survivors of his past crimes.

The show's first season hinted at Framt's impending significance when Dexter, played by Michael C. Hall, and detective Claudette Wallace, portrayed by Kadia Saraf, uncovered a file on Framt in the vault of Leon Prater, played by Peter Dinklage. This crucial plot point sets the stage for Cox's major role in the upcoming season. Cox, who previously depicted the infamous Hannibal Lecter in the 1986 film 'Manhunter', is no stranger to playing chilling characters.

Cox's illustrious career spans television and film. He is a three-time Emmy nominee for his portrayal of Logan Roy in HBO's 'Succession', winning a Golden Globe for the role in 2020. His diverse filmography includes roles in the Jason Bourne franchise, 'X2', 'Troy', and 'Coriolanus'. 'Dexter: Resurrection', under the helm of original series figurehead Clyde Phillips, is being produced by Paramount Television Studios in collaboration with Counterpart Studios.
