Rahul Gandhi Calls for Justice in SC/ST Act Protest Cases

Rahul Gandhi has reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to intervene in the withdrawal of cases filed against Dalit and Adivasi youth during the 2018 nationwide protests against the weakening of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. In his letter, Gandhi highlighted the cases' detrimental effects on the youths' education and careers.

The protests on April 2nd, 2018, followed a judicial decision that diluted the SC/ST Act, prompting demonstrations by marginalized communities advocating for justice and equality. Rahul Gandhi emphasized that the trials continue to burden innocent young individuals who exercised their constitutional right to protest.

He called on the Indian government to compassionately address the matter by reviewing and withdrawing the cases against SC/ST youth, ensuring relief for those impacted. Asserting the importance of maintaining constitutional values and social justice, Gandhi has appealed for swift action to resolve this significant issue.
