The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) witnessed a significant drop in financial contributions after a major political setback in the 2023 Telangana Assembly elections. As per documents filed with the Election Commission of India, the party, led by former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, recorded over Rs 15 crore in donations last financial year.
In stark contrast, BRS received a hefty Rs 580 crore the previous year, highlighting a reduction linked to the party's electoral performance. For the year 2024-25, BRS managed to secure Rs 15 crore via electoral trust funds, with individuals contributing smaller amounts.
In previous financial years, specifically 2023-24, BRS secured over Rs 495 crore through Electoral Bonds and Rs 85 crore from electoral trust funds. During 2022-23, the total donations summed up to Rs 683 crore, demonstrating a significant financial downturn over two consecutive years.
