Chhattisgarh Gears Up for Voter List Revision

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists is underway in Chhattisgarh as preparations ramp up for next week's second phase of this significant exercise, according to state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Yashwant Kumar.

Aimed at including every eligible voter, the SIR's first phase has already concluded in Bihar, which is scheduled to vote in two phases in the forthcoming assembly polls in November. The comprehensive exercise is set to extend to 12 states and Union Territories, with Chhattisgarh included, to scrutinize and update voter information.

Kumar detailed that the exercise involves publication and training activities running from October 28 to November 3, and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will distribute enumeration forms door-to-door from November 4 through December 4. The updated draft electoral roll will be published on December 9, with claims and objections being accepted until January 8. Final electoral rolls are scheduled for publication on February 7.
