In a significant development for Telangana, two senior leaders of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), who had been underground for over four decades, have surrendered to law enforcement. The leaders, P Prasad Rao, also known as Chandranna, and Bandi Prakash, known as Prabhath, have decided to join the mainstream.
Prasad Rao, a Central Committee Member, had been underground for 45 years, while Bandi Prakash, part of the Telangana State Committee, remained underground for 42 years. Their surrender aligns with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's call for CPI (Maoist) members to lay down arms and contribute to state development initiatives.
The leaders cited deteriorating health, ideological differences, and internal disputes within the Maoist leadership as reasons for their decision. Their surrender is seen as a moral victory for the Telangana Police's comprehensive policy against the CPI (Maoist), paving the way for more underground cadres to return to society.
