The sudden voluntary retirement of Syed Ali Murtaza Rizvi, a senior IAS officer from Telangana, has ignited a wave of political discontent. The BRS has raised serious allegations against the Telangana government, accusing it of coercing bureaucrats into corrupt activities.
Rizvi, who was a 1999 batch officer with nearly a decade of service remaining, opted for voluntary retirement effective October 31. Although the exact reasons for his decision are yet to be disclosed, the move has sparked significant controversy.
At a press conference, BRS Working President KT Rama Rao claimed that both IAS and IPS officers are being pressured into taking voluntary retirement as they resist engaging in corrupt practices. Allegations have surfaced that Rizvi refused to follow orders from Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, leading to a letter appealing to the government not to accept his resignation. Attempts to reach Rizvi for comment were unsuccessful.
