Heavy rain, induced by Cyclone Montha, battered several districts in Telangana on Wednesday, after the storm crossed the Andhra Pradesh coast overnight.
Districts like Warangal and Hyderabad experienced significant rainfall, prompting Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to convene an emergency meeting with officials to address the cyclone's impact. Redlawada in Warangal recorded 183.3 mm of rainfall.
The India Meteorological Department issued a red alert in parts of Telangana. As safety measures, holidays were declared for educational institutions, and rescue operations were undertaken to save students from inundated areas. Rail services were disrupted due to waterlogging, resulting in train cancellations and diversions.
