Political Firestorm Erupts Over Alleged Cash-for-Jobs Scam in Tamil Nadu

The Tamil Nadu government, on Wednesday, dismissed allegations by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) of a cash-for-jobs scam in the Municipal Administration and Water Supply (MAWS) Department, calling them politically motivated. Opposition parties, however, have intensified their criticism of the ruling DMK government over these claims.

The ED has called for an FIR by Tamil Nadu Police regarding a supposed recruitment scam, which it claims involved as many as 2,500 candidates who allegedly paid hefty bribes ranging between Rs 25-35 lakh each. Minister K N Nehru refuted the allegations, suggesting that the claims were an attempt to tarnish the government's reputation.

Amidst these allegations, AIADMK and BJP leaders have demanded swift investigative actions, with calls for a comprehensive CBI probe to ensure accountability. The controversy showcases deep political tensions and raises questions about transparency within the state's recruitment processes.
