The Allahabad High Court has intervened in the legal proceedings involving Zia Ur Rehman, a Samajwadi Party MP, accused of violating the model code of conduct during the 2024 general election.

An FIR had been lodged against Rehman under Section 188 IPC and Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act for alleged violations prior to his becoming an MP. His counsel has contested these claims, asserting they are unfounded.

Despite opposition, the court has determined that the issue warrants further examination and has scheduled the next hearing for December 8. In the interim, legal proceedings have been temporarily stayed.
