Jammu & Kashmir's Commitment to Daily Wager Regularisation Gains Traction

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reiterated his administration’s commitment to regularising the status of daily wage workers, emphasizing the impending release of recommendations from a designated committee, expected soon.

Abdullah made these remarks while opposing a bill introduced by CPI(M) legislator M Y Tarigami in the legislative assembly that sought to formalize the employment of casual workers. While rejecting the bill's admission, Abdullah expressed broad consensus on the need to address the long-standing issue.

The Chief Minister assured that the process of regularising these workers would begin this year in a phased manner, with a roadmap prepared for discussion in the next budget session. Tarigami later withdrew the bill after Abdullah's reassurances.
