Jammu and Kashmir is experiencing a significant industrial boom, with the establishment of 639 industrial units over the past two fiscal years. These developments have attracted investments amounting to Rs 75,734.96 crore, creating employment opportunities for over 41,365 people.
Responding to questions in the state Assembly, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary highlighted that in the fiscal year 2023-24, 234 units were set up, while 405 were established in 2024-25. This industrial surge follows the implementation of the J&K Industrial Policy 2021-30, which has also led to substantial land transfers to the Industries and Commerce Department in the Jammu division.
Significant land allocation has been observed in districts such as Kathua, which leads with the largest land transfer, followed by Samba and Jammu. The policy aims to promote industrial growth, with 758 units specifically established within the Jammu division since its inception. The facilitation of land transfers and precise documentation for allottees are part of efforts to streamline and support industrialization across the region.
