Australia's Potential Gas Shortfall Solution

Australia is considering invoking its gas security policy amid concerns of a potential domestic gas shortfall forecasted for the third quarter of 2026. This move follows warnings from a watchdog, citing disruptions in global energy markets due to the Middle East conflict.

Resources Minister Madeleine King announced intentions to confer with leading gas producers concerning the domestic market's gas supply. A conclusion on the application of the Australian Domestic Gas Security Mechanism (ADGSM) is anticipated by mid-May.

King reassured that the notice does not currently restrict gas exports, affirming that Australia's domestic market remains adequately supplied with local gas resources.
