In a major operation, police in Bhiwandi have confiscated 405 LPG cylinders, including 96 filled, reportedly stored illegally for resale. An official revealed the illicit stockpile followed a tip-off leading to the Narpoli police lodging a case under the Essential Commodities Act.
The raid uncovered not only the cylinders but also trucks and tempos intended for their transport. The overall market worth of the seized items stands at around Rs 18,78,600, a significant illicit stockpile affecting the local market.
As investigations proceed, no arrests have been made. Officials urge compliance with the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order, 2000, to prevent recurrences of such violations.
