LPG distributors in Punjab have reported a significant shortfall in gas supply, despite government assurances of sufficient stock. Federation head Gurpal Singh Mann highlighted the industry's struggles during a recent media briefing.
The crisis has been exacerbated by a sudden price hike—Rs 60 for domestic and Rs 115 for commercial cylinders—prompting consumer panic over potential shortages. Despite official statements indicating no shortfall, restrictive booking intervals and temporary suspension of booking systems have intensified public anxieties.
Mann emphasized the urgent need for transparent communication from oil marketing companies and streamlined policies to ensure uninterrupted supply. With over 980 distributors serving 96 lakh customers, he urged for an alignment of policy and execution to restore public trust and manage the backlog efficiently.
