The Delhi government has unveiled plans to transform the city into a global tourist hub under the Centre's 'One State: One Global Destination' scheme. The project, costing around Rs 500 crore, aims to elevate tourism by highlighting Delhi's rich cultural, artistic, and historical offerings.
Officials announced that a consultant will be enlisted to craft a comprehensive project report, to secure necessary approvals, and acquire central funding. With a completion timeline set at three years, the initiative seeks to integrate private investment and incentivize high standards in destination management.
The Tourism Ministry aims to develop over 50 internationally benchmarked tourist sites across India, aligning with the broader 'Viksit Bharat' roadmap. By capitalizing on Delhi's historical monuments, markets, and culinary uniqueness, the project seeks to enhance the city's appeal as a world-class destination.
