The Karnataka State Commission for Women, led by Chairperson Nagalakshmi Choudhary, has called on the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to address what it describes as 'illegal and obscene lyrics' in cinema. This follows widespread public discontent over a song from the upcoming film 'KD The Devil' featuring Sanjay Dutt and Nora Fatehi, criticized for its vulgar lyrics.

Choudhary has formally approached the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) to seek restrictions on songs that neglect social responsibility. The Kannada film, intended to release in four languages on April 30, has faced backlash for its sexually explicit lyrics, targeted for degrading women's dignity according to Choudhary's letter to the CBFC's Regional Director.

The Commission underscores the negative societal impact and potential risks to women's safety from such provocative content and urged for a thorough review before certification. Choudhary also appealed to the KFCC, urging them to enforce guidelines that ensure respect for women, reflecting cinema's significant social influence.
