The National Commission for Women (NCW) has proposed a detailed framework to empower acid attack survivors. Submitted to various Central ministries, the recommendations focus on strengthening care, justice, and rehabilitation for victims.
Central to the NCW's proposal is the introduction of the 'Golden Hour Protocol,' aiming for rapid medical intervention within 60 minutes of an attack to minimize damage. Furthermore, the NCW urges a mandatory training and certification process in acid-attack management for healthcare professionals across government and private sectors.
In addition to medical care, the commission advocates for legal and financial reforms, including a fast-track justice system and direct compensation mechanisms. Social awareness initiatives have also been suggested to promote acceptance and integration of survivors into society, alongside skill development and employment opportunities.
