Empowering Women: NCW's 'At Your Doorstep' Initiative Boosts Trust in Justice System

The chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW), Vijaya Rahatkar, highlighted the importance of bolstering women's faith in the legal and administrative systems. Addressing a public hearing in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday, Rahatkar asserted that trust is pivotal for timely justice delivery.
Initiatives such as 'NCW at Your Doorstep' are pivotal for achieving this goal. Rahatkar emphasized the need for women's confidence in institutions, which would facilitate effective grievance redressal and minimize delays in justice delivery. The chairperson also called for stringent measures, citing Maharashtra's high crime rates against women.
Rahatkar urged police authorities to allocate specific days for women's grievance hearings and stressed the need for coordination among protection officers and local committees. She also reviewed women-centric schemes across the Konkan region and reaffirmed the role of NCW in safeguarding women's rights through statutory and practical measures.
