NCW Demands Justice After Horrific Assault on Minor in Tamil Nadu

In response to the gangrape of a 15-year-old girl in Tamil Nadu, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has urgently called for thorough police action. The commission described the incident as 'horrific,' underscoring the urgent need for improved protective measures for minors.
NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar directed Tamil Nadu's police to immediately file an FIR under relevant legal frameworks, ensuring the swift arrest of those involved. The Commission also demanded a fair, time-bound investigation, alongside comprehensive medical and rehabilitative aid for the victim and her family.
Condemning the attack as a severe human rights violation, the NCW highlighted the necessity for stringent legal accountability. The Commission seeks a detailed Action Taken Report from state police within five days, stressing the need for preventive mechanisms to safeguard young girls from such crimes.
