In an effort to ease tensions in West Asia, India has welcomed the United States' decision to extend a ceasefire with Iran. Union Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh voiced India's hope for a swift end to hostilities.
US President Donald Trump extended the ceasefire at Pakistan's request, allowing Tehran's leadership an opportunity to propose a resolution to the seven-week conflict. Singh assured that the Indian government under Prime Minister Modi is vigilant and will prevent any fallout or energy supply disruptions caused by the situation in West Asia.
On domestic matters, Singh highlighted the need for fair elections in West Bengal, urging voters to participate fearlessly. He also criticized the opposition for hindering the passage of the Women's Reservation Bill, promising renewed efforts by 2029.
