Unseasonal rains and hailstorms have caused widespread destruction to crops and disrupted everyday life in Maharashtra, officials reported. An estimated 1.22 lakh hectares of farmland have been affected, with over 82,000 farmers bearing the brunt of nature's fury.

Two individuals lost their lives due to rain-related incidents in Nashik division, officials disclosed. State Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule assured that compensation would be provided to affected farmers as surveys to assess losses are underway. The most impacted areas span across north and western Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha.

The India Meteorological Department has hinted at more heavy rainfall, strong winds, and potential hailstorms over the coming days, adding to the woes of already distressed farmers.
