Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis revealed that the state's solar agricultural feeder scheme is benefiting eight lakh farmers by providing affordable daytime electricity. Speaking in the assembly, Fadnavis, who also holds the energy portfolio, declared that work on a 4,000 MW capacity under the scheme has been completed.

The government plans to expand the initiative by an additional 10,000 MW to ensure that daytime electricity reaches nearly 75% of farmers next year, despite ongoing challenges in certain areas. The positive response from farmers to related solar initiatives like the Maagel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana, which offers solar-powered agricultural pumps, was also highlighted.

The solar scheme has garnered international recognition and several awards, with the International Solar Alliance deeming it a flagship initiative. Plans for the next phase include battery storage systems to facilitate round-the-clock solar energy use and enhance integration with the power grid.
