In the wake of a harrowing terrorist attack that shocked the globe on April 22, 2025, the tranquil Baisaran meadow in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam is now alive with visitors once more. The Lashkar-e-Toiba's cruel assault claimed 26 lives and led to a temporary halt in tourism throughout the region. However, a year later, the picturesque 'Mini Switzerland' is witnessing a resurgence as tourists flock back, undeterred by the previous year's events.
Visitors like Ashutosh Kosaria, hailing from Chhattisgarh, express astonishment over the serene landscape and commend the robust security presence reminiscent of security measures in regions familiar with extremism like Bastar. This renewed sense of safety is echoed by Tanushree Dutta from Kolkata, who traveled across Gulmarg, Sonmarg, and Pahalgam, stating that the current security situation has alleviated fears, drawing tourists back to the stunning region.
The return of tourism to Jammu and Kashmir signifies a resilient comeback fueled by improved security, strategic site reopenings, and initiatives like the Vande Bharat train service. Pradeep Malik from Panipat highlights the fortified security and logistical schemes that have made current travels through Kashmir safer and more appealing. As more tourists rediscover the splendor of the valley, the shadow of last year's terror seems to be lifting, ushering in a hopeful era for Kashmir's tourism sector.
