Historic Step Forward: Women's Reservation Act Amendment

Union Minister Annpurna Devi expressed strong support for a proposed amendment to the women's reservation act, which she described as a historic step towards ensuring greater participation of women in lawmaking.

The minister spoke during a debate in the Lok Sabha, addressing three bills related to women's quota law amendments and the establishment of a delimitation commission. Devi emphasized that the bills represent a significant affirmation of women's rights and dignity in India.

Devi critiqued opposition parties for delaying women's rights initiatives and highlighted previous government inaction on pivotal issues. She reiterated that the current bill would establish a 33% representation for women in legislative bodies, marking progress in decision-making roles for women.
